Mike Post and Pete Carpenter did so many television themes. Not all of them where really catchy, but I quite liked the one from Hardcastle and McCormick and your post made me checking the chords on my piano. Nice twist to a minor in the "Slow motion man" part...  :like:

Concerning their other TV themes, I quite loved the mysterious beginning of the 'Stingray' theme, but unfortunatley it turns into a rather typical '80s pattern' which quite destroys the tension built up earlier.

In a Halloween mood, The Existential Dreadniks' "The Headless Horseman Rides"...

The Headless Horseman Rides
by Byron Fenris

There's a full moon over the church
The cemetery stones seem cursed
They say the Horseman sleeps inside
The churchyard gate is open wide

Black coat snapping in the breeze
The sound of hoofbeats through the trees
A louder laugh than you'd expect
Since nothing's there above his neck

Hear your heart beat loud with fear
As the pounding hooves draw near

The Headless Horseman rides tonight
His horse runs wild in wingless flight
Run, baby run, lock the door
He lost one head, now he needs one more

Dead leaves spiral in his wake
Crows call, jeering at your fate
At the crossroads, he will pause
To decide if he wants your head despite its flaws

The Headless Horseman rides tonight
Few that live have seen the sight
Run, baby, run, lock the door
Or you won't need a hat any more

No eyes to see, no mouth to speak
Still there's laughter by the creek
Can't feel the wind blow through his hair
Yet he rides as if his head's still there

Feel your skin grow cold with dread
He is coming for your head

The Headless Horseman rides tonight
Hide until he's out of sight
Run, baby run, lock the door
He lost one head, now he wants yours

Oh, you've got just one chance to live
Run for the Pocantico bridge
The Headless Horseman rides tonight
The Headless Horseman rides tonight

In a Halloween mood, "The Painted Doll" by The Haunted Hollow Orchestra...

When you watch me smile, I can dance for a little while
They painted roses on my cheeks and dressed me up in lace
They told the crowd I never cried behind my porcelain face
The lantern swayed, the curtains rose, the music box began

I turned around on silver feet and danced when no one can
But every night when the fair shuts down and silence fills the hall
I hear a whisper through the glass
You are not a doll

Round and round I turn for them in my velvet ribbon hem
Pretty eyes and painted smile hold me here a little while
Round and round the shadows crawl through the tent and down the wall
If I break before I fall, who will love the painted doll

My maker wore a velvet coat, his hands were cold and thin
He carved a heart beneath my ribs and locked the music in
He said, my dear, you'll never age, you'll never leave the show
Then kissed my hand and disappeared where broken playthings go

Now every night when the fair shuts down and moonlight fills the hall
I hear my own voice softly say
You are not a doll
Round and round I turn for them in my velvet ribbon hem

Pretty eyes and painted smile hold me here a little while
Round and round the shadows crawl through the tent and down the wall
If I break before I fall, who will love the painted doll
I remember breathing, I remember rain, I remember someone calling out my name

Was I a woman? Was I a bride? Was I a dream they trapped inside
Crack the glass, cut the thread, wake the heart they left for dead
Round and round I turn no more, there are scratches on the door
Pretty eyes and painted smile could not hold me all the while

Round and round the fairgrounds fall, now the moon has heard my call
If I break before I crawl, fear the wrath of the painted doll
Wind me up, watch me smile
I was sleeping for a little while
