Is there a way to take money from the party through an event like how you can with items through "dissolve drow equipment"? Perhaps editing it in a way so that it takes the party's money instead.

Unfortunately, I don't think UA can do that.   :dontknow:

Perhaps, if you think outside the box, there might be a workable substitute, tho.  If, for example, you gave the Party a Special Item you've named "*'s Treasure" (or something), you could then remove that Item thru another Special Item Event.  You might need to tailor your story around it, like keeping the Party's actual funds low so that the loss of the Treasure is a big deal when it happens.

Not perfect, but that's the best solution I could come up with.  :icon_scratch:

Due to how the PCs can be removed and loaded back into the game, there's really no way to completely get rid of a party's money or items.

But if I were going to attempt something like this, I'd try one or more of the following.

1. Simply don't give the party much money in the module and limit their ability to visit stores and trainers. This would keep their money artificially low and make them go out of their way to remove a PC and add them back to the party if they wanted more coin.

2. Make all the 'money' gems or jewelry and then limit the party's ability to sell any of it by limiting stores. This would allow them to store it in vaults, but not allow them to access its value in that specific module without a workaround.

3. If you know for sure that the party will collect at least X platinum, or have the ability to mill for more if a bit low, then you could use a 'who pays' event to force the party to offload coin to simply progress in the story by making them buy a needed item or for travel expenses or something. The value of this would have to be high enough to force the party to empty their pockets but not so high that the player has to seriously grind if they get to that point a bit earlier than you planned.

Returning to this thread six months later I've discovered how to work it as an event. Using a hex editor paste the lines I've listed below. This new event causes everyone in the party to lose all the platinum, gems and jewels they have the moment they step on the tile. I've also had to overwrite "tavern tales" for it to work so any areas with that event will be broken
